1st item: Japanese Kutani basin or charger with gilt highlights, having a central scene of two scholars with attendants in a landscale setting, surrounded by geometric and scrolling foliate bands. Painted character mark with additional foliate and geometric decoration to underside of base. 2 1/2" H x 12" dia. Meiji period, late 19th/early 20th century. 2nd item: Chinese bottle form vase having a raised dragon chasing a pearl against a blue hand-painted wave background, all on a white ground. Impressed four character mark to underside of base. Includes a footed hardwood base. Vase: 9" H x 5" dia. Overall with base: 10 1/8" H. 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Williamson County, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Both items in overall good condition. 1st item: Crazing, scattered firing flaws. Fleabites, largest 1 1/4", to underside of base. 2nd item: Firing flaws to edges of dragon, largest 3/4".
