Helen Komar (American, 1927-2020) original illustration archive including 5 animation cels and 5 corresponding drawings of entertainment and commercial subjects including The Care Bears, Dow Scrubbing Bubbles, Kentucky Fried Chicken, "Freakies" cereal, all unframed, and a framed cel and drawing of a little girl with running giraffe and camel. Also includes 3 photocopies of Raggedy Ann subjects and some informational sheets. Animation Sheet sizes range from 9 1/2" H x 7 1/2" W to 9" H x 12" W. Frame 12 1/2" H x 10 1/2" W. All items circa 1970s-80s.
Note: Helen Komar was a pioneering female illustration artist who emigrated from Warsaw, Poland, to Toronto with her family as a child and then to New York in about 1945. She produced some easel paintings but was best known for animating such entertainment classics as Popeye the Sailor Man, Casper the Friendly Ghost, the original Spider-Man, The Incredible Mr. Limpet, Fritz the Cat, Raggedy Ann & Andy, The Soldier''s Tale and Daffy Duck''s Quackbusters, in addition to numerous commercials.
PROVENANCE: Private Middle Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition with signs of light handling.
