Ten (10) George Ayers Cress (American/Tennessee, 1921-2008) charcoal or pen and ink drawings on paper of European landscapes and one (1) printed postcard. Locations depicted include Cape Bon, Tunisia dated 1943; Sicily, Italy dated 1944; Lake Garda in Italy, dated 1976; English cities of Bampton, Little Weald, and Cornwall all dating 1973-2000; North Wales, UK dated 1991. Lot also includes one russet-colored, printed Florence 1978 postcard mounted on handmade decorative paper. Most signed, titled to lower margins. Each with museum accession number in pencil en verso. All unframed. Overall dimensions range from 4 1/8" H x 5 3/8" W to 11" H x 13 5/8" W.
PROVENANCE: Property of the Hunter Museum of American Art.
CONDITION: Overall good condition. Some pieces with light toning.
