U. S. Percussion Musket Model 1863, Type 2, .58 Caliber. Lockplate stamped with an eagle and "U.S. Springfield 1864". Proof marks on barrel, "US"on butt plate, "U"marks on barrel bands. 40"barrel, 55 3/4" overall. Condition: Cleaned. Hammer and rear of barrel pitted as well as some pitting on parts, otherwise expected wear for age.
