Large Continental white glazed terracotta figural sculpture modeled after Carrier-Belleuse's (French 1824-1887) sculpture "The Drunkenness of Bacchus". Depicting the Roman god of wine Bacchus, atop a donkey flanked by nymphs holding tambourines with putti at his feet, all on an oval plinth base with a naturalistic ground adorned with grapes and flowers. Impressed signature to back of base reading ROUX. 21 1/2" H x 24" W x 12 1/2" D. Late 19th/Early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Pia Stratton, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with light wear and surface grime, one lower cherub missing instrument.
