A large Italian majolica charger or platter by The Societa Ceramica de Colonnata of the Fiorentino region of Italy. It depicts the legendary battle against the roosters of Marcus Valerius Corvus/Corvinus (Marcus Valerius Corvus/Corvinus), as described by the Roman historian Livy, to the center with a wide mustard ground rim depicting Raffaellesco Grotesques. Titled, with maker's hallmark and numbered on the base. 20 1/4" dia. Probably early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Pia Stratton, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition.
