Pair of English George III Sheraton mahogany armchairs having arched crestrails, over splats with seven vertical bands joined by carved beaded and fluted panel with central rosette; set-back arms with carved rosette at handhold, slip upholstered seats with shaped fronts; Marlborough legs connected by H stretchers. 38" H x 25 1/2" outside arm W x 23 1/2" seat W x 22" D overall x 18 1/2" seat D. Circa 1780. Provenance: Deaccessioned from the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. CONDITION: Overall very good condition with older refininsh and newer seat blocks. Upholstery is worn.
