Frederick Weygold (American/Kentucky,1870-1941) oil on board summer landscape painting depicting a wildflower-lined path running along a wide brook and into the woods. Signed "F. Weygold" lower left. Housed in a textured giltwood frame. Old framing label en verso for Frank J. Bimmerle Picture Frames, Louisville, KY. Sight – 12 3/8" H x 16 1/2" W. Frame – 16 1/4" H x 20 1/2" W. Biography: Frederick Weygold was born in St. Charles, Missouri and studied art in Europe and at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He was active in the Louisville Kentucky art scene in the 1920s and early 1930s but is best known for his ethnological work among the Sioux Indians and his paintings of the American West.
