1st item: Chinese .900 silver scent jar or tea container, round hand hammered form with hollow round button form lid, Chinese hallmarks to underside. 3 1/2 in. H x 3 3/4 in. D. 5.61 oz troy. 2nd item: a Continental oval silver-plated trinket box. The interior features a miniature watercolor landscape painting depicting a castle to the lid, and green silk lining. The exterior lid features relief decoration of military scenes, with vignettes of processions to side, and four toupie feet. Stamped 800 with double crown and diamond hallmarks to underside. 2 1/4 in. H x 3 1/2 in. W x 3 in. D. Both items late 19th to early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Living Estate of Sally Johnson Harlan.
CONDITION: 1st item – Jar: 3 dents to side, largest 1 in. L. 2nd item – Box: considerable patination and wear with base metal showing through. Some waviness to miniature painting support. Wear to interior.
