Two companion 18th century polychrome wooden dummy boards, both figures in period costume, the man holding a rose in raised hand and a tool or knife in other and the woman holding a feather duster. Male – 35" H x 13" W overall x 8" D. Female – 36 1/4" H x 13 3/4" W x 7" D. Likely English, 18th century. Provenance: Estate of James J. Allen, Knoxville, TN. CONDITION: Surface grime to both figures. Male figure with small chip losses along cap and shoulder, possible repainting on sleeves and forehead and two 3" L cracks near base. Small loss to left elbow. The woman with paint losses primarily in dress area, possible repainting to parts of face and hair and an approximately 24" L split from head down through dress.
