Jerry Malzahn (Texas/Arkansas, 1946-2019) oil on canvas Texas landscape painting possibly set in early autumn and depicting a large tree with colorful foliage situated in a grassy prairie under a cloudy blue sky. A plateau rises in the distant background. Signed "Malzahn" lower right. Housed in a contemporary molded giltwood frame. Sight: 17 1/2" H x 23 1/2" W. Framed: 25 1/4" H x 31 1/4" W. Artist Biography (Adapted from Ask Art): Born and raised in Stuttgart, Arkansas, Jerry graduated high school 1964. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Storekeeper Second Class during the Vietnam War. After the war and his Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Navy, Jerry moved to Texas and enrolled in the University of North Texas where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management. He subsequently founded the Malzahn Landscape Company, which he owned and operated for over 40 years. It was during this time that Jerry met and married Lyla (Thompson) Malzahn, and they settled in Coppell, TX. At the age of 48, Jerry began to devote himself to landscape painting and he specialized in Texas and Colorado landscapes.
