Pauline "Polly" Wallen (Tennessee, 1922-2010) watercolor mountain landscape painting rendered in shades of blue, green and yellow. Signed and dated lower right "Wallen '66". Matted and housed under glass in a gilt wood frame. Image: 16 1/2" H x 21 1/2" W. Frame: 26 3/4" H x 31 1/4" W. Biography: A Knoxville native, Wallen studied art at Salem College in Winston-Salem, N.C.; the University of Tennessee; the Corcoran Gallery of Art and Stuart Art School, both in Washington, D.C. Her watercolors have won prizes internationally including the 1982 Medaille D'Argent Aquarelle at Le Grand Palais Salon Des Artistes Francais and the 1986 Prix Taylor, also from the Paris Salon (for a landscape sold in our January, 2021 auction). Wallen was also a member of the Tennessee Watercolor Society and the Associations of Art in Paris.
CONDITION: Overall good condition. Mat slightly warped along lower edge.
