Two (2) pairs of 19th century porcelain urns, including a pair of Wedgwood three-color urns. 1st and 2nd items: Pair of Jean Gille French porcelain Greek Revival urns with hand painted polychrome and gilt garland and medallion decorations. Both stamped with blue raised Jean Gille mark to base. 15 1/8" H x 6 1/2" D. 3rd and 4th items: Pair of two (2) English Wedgwood three-color or tri-colour jasperware lidded urns, sage green, blue and white porcelain, the bodies with slip decoration depicting classical female figures dancing, with foliate decoration to the upper and lower bodies and lids, and mask satyr handles. Stamped "Wedgwood 2" to underside of bases. 6 5/8" H x 3 1/8" W x 2 3/4" D.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of F. Hamilton Hazlehurst, longtime chair of the Vanderbilt University Art Department.
CONDITION: Jean Gille Urns: One with hairline, approximately 1 1/2", and fleabite to rim on reverse side, approximately 5/8". One with abrasion to body, approximately 2". Both with fleabites to base. Both with loss of black paint to frieze. Wedgwood urns: Both urns with old repairs to one handle. One urn with old breaks and repairs to the body.
