Pieter van Veen (American/Dutch, 1875-1961) oil on canvas Impressionist style landscape depicting the bridge and mill in Moret-sur-Loing, France, with the river Loing in the foreground. Signed "P van Veen 1924," lower left. Hunter Museum of Art, Chattanooga, TN inventory label affixed to verso. With inscriptions to stretcher including "At Moret, France". Housed in a molded wood frame. Canvas: 25 1/4" H x 30 1/4" W. Frame: 30" H x 35" W.
PROVENANCE: Property of the Hunter Museum of American Art.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. With surface grime and 1 1/2" repaired puncture to sky near treetops in upper left quadrant. Minor losses to frame, especially at corners.
