Hand-pieced, machine and hand-quilted quilt rendered in multicolored vibrant fabrics, suggesting the pieces are remnants from a dress factory or from a professional seamstress or hatmaker. Fabrics include satin and silk in floral robe prints. The center panel is built on a foundation cloth, and the green and multicolored striped border is machine quilted in cross-hatching and joined to center panel; the whole is backed with red fabric, and quilted together. Knife edge binding on all four sides, with four mitered corners. 72" H x 66" W. American, likely a Northern, urban area, circa 1900.
PROVENANCE: Private West Tennessee Collection.
CONDITION: Some light fabric loss, in overall good condition, commensurate with age.
