A collection of thirty-two (32) George Cress (American/Tennessee, 1921-2008) primarily architectural or related works on paper in graphite, charcoal, and colored pencil, including one graphite drawing on canvasboard and one colored pencil drawing on tracing paper, c.1943 – c. 2000s. Subjects include: Ringling Circus; Ocracoke, North Carolina; Teloga, Georgia; Bampton, Oxfordshire, England; Munich, Germany; Ogunquit and Rockport, Maine; and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, among others. Some titled and inscribed, all with museum accession numbers en verso. Housed in a paper sleeve. Sheet dimensions range from 5 13/16 in. x 4 5/8 in. to 18 3/4 in. x 14 3/4 in. Sleeve: 22 in. x 17 in. Lot also includes six photocopies after George Cress architectural drawings, one with pencil augmentation.
PROVENANCE: Deaccessioned by the Hunter Museum of American Art.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. Some sheets with tonings and handling wear primarily to edges.
