Seven (7) piece Gorham sterling silver tea service consisting of a hot water kettle on stand, teapot, coffee pot, covered sugar bowl with two handles, creamer with flared spout, and waste bowl together with matching sterling tray. All pieces with urn form bodies on pedestal feet having beaded decoration to shoulders and bases. Hot water kettle, teapot, and coffeepot with gooseneck spouts and hinged lids with flower bud finials. Coffeepot, teapot, and creamer with gilt wash interiors. Hot water kettle, creamer, covered sugar bowl, and waste bowl with Spaulding & Co. and Whiting Manufacturing Co. marks. Coffeepot with Whiting Manufacturing Co. mark. Teapot with Gorham, Spaulding & Co. and Whiting Manufacturing Co marks. Tray with Spaulding-Gorham, Inc., and Dominick and Haff marks. All pieces with sterling marks and script monogram CCMcB. Serving pieces range from 4 1/4" H x 4 3/8" dia. to 14 1/2" H x 9 1/2" W x 7 3/4" D. Tray: 25 1/4" W x 17 3/8" D. 243.91 total troy ounces. Circa 1919-1924.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Edith (Edie) M. Bass, Nashville, Tennessee. Most of the items from her estate in this auction were by descent from her parents, Walter Paul McBride and Claire Childs of Lake Forest, Illinois.
CONDITION: Set in overall good condition with minor scattered spots of pitting. All pieces monogrammed. Handles slightly loose on hot water kettle, teapot, and coffeepot. Small dent to teapot, measuring 5/8" H x 1 1/8" W. Minor dent to rim of waste bowl. Tray with surface scratching.
