Pair (2) of palace sized Italian Majolica tin-glazed earthenware lidded urns both having allegorical or mythological figural landscape or seascape to the bodies, cherubs to the necks, and landscape with ruins to lids with green writhing snake handles that terminate into masks with additional masks applied to the lower body and bud form finial to lid. Unmarked. 35 1/2" H. 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Pia Stratton, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Lid to one urn with repaired breaks and overall light craquelure to glaze. Lid to other urn with restoration, restoration also to the upper body. Repaired breaks to snake handles. Please refer to black light photos.
