Howard Finster (Georgia/Alabama, 1916-2001) portrait etching of Henrietta Maria, Queen of England, Scotland, and Ireland (r. 1625-1649) and wife of King Charles I. Finster depicts the Queen in bust-length, flanked by two trees, surrounded by text, and with celestial imagery above and terrestrial imagery below. A jet flies across her forehead and a pair of horses stand at lower left. Signed, titled, and numbered 62/100 in pencil, lower margin. Floated under plexiglass in a distressted, silvered wood frame. Sheet: 29 1/2 in H x 22 in W. Frame: 31 1/2 in H x 24 in W.
PROVENANCE: The estates of Walter and Dr. Mary Schatz, Nashville.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. Not examined out of frame.
