Four (4) European or English wooden boxes. 1st item: Continental burlwood rectangular form storage box with inlaid band and brass knob to hinged lid, inlaid key shaped escutcheon. Interior with a rectangular tray having eight compartments that fits inside a larger main compartment. Illegible pencil inscriptions to interior of lid. 6 3/8" H x 12" W x 7 3/4" D. 2nd item: Continental hardwood box, possibly coromandel, having a studded nailhead border and inlaid oval mother of pearl medallion to hinged lid, shield shaped escutcheon to keyhole, interior lined with pink paper. 2 3/8" H x 5 1/2" W x 4" D. 3rd item: English burlwood tea caddy having a hinged domed lid, inlaid key-shaped brass escutcheon, and two inner lidded compartments lined with green paper. 6 1/4" H x 8 1/8" W x 5" D. 4th item: English mahogany tea caddy having a hinged domed lid. 2 3/4" H x 6 1/4" W x 3 1/4" D. Includes three keys. All items 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Patricia Kiegel, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: All items in overall good condition with minor areas of loss, natural age shrinkage. 1st item: a couple of patches to veneer, rear feet missing. 4th item: Lock mechanism appears to be a replacement. Possible 1 1/2" x 5/8" patch wood on lock. Lid is not flush to body.
