Two (2) English mahogany containers. 1st item: Regency style sarcophagus form tea caddy on bun feet with brass escutcheon and hardware containing central cut glass footed vase flanked by two removable mahogany caddies with hinged lids. 7 7/8" H x 13" W x 6 1/2" D. 2nd item: Queen Anne style box with brass escutcheon, top handle, and hardware. 5 1/2" H x 9 1/4" W x 5 3/4" D. Both items 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Collection of John H. and Carol R. Evans, Farragut, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Minor scattered age splits commensurate with age, largest measuring 4 1/2" L; minor scattered evidence of insect damage. Area of repair to veneer measuring 3/8" x 3" to lid. One inner caddy with lid detached and minor glue residue. 2nd item: Minor scattered surface wear. Later added felt lining. Loss of internal dividers and original locking mechanism.
