Cornelius Christiaan (Christian) Zwaan (Illinois/Michigan/Netherlands, 1882-1964) oil on board landscape painting depicting a gray barn or mill in Brown County, Indiana with a partially visible water wheel alongside the bank of a narrow creek with a simple wooden bridge traversing the water in the foreground and a fecund forest filling the background. Signed "Cornelius Ch. Zwaan" lower left. Paper label with location information, medium and dimensions, date of 1939, and "Collection of Miss Beatrice Zwaan" as well as additional numbered sticker labels, en verso. Housed and canvas matted in a wooden frame. Sight: 15 5/8" H x 19 1/2" W. Framed: 20 5/8" H x 24 1/2" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carl Klein, Brentwood, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with tape residue to lower edge, measuring 1/4" x 2 7/8". Matte with slight discoloration.
