Louese Chinworth (American/Indiana, 1904-1998) oil on canvasboard landscape painting with a large church that peers over a treeline which runs behind several small buildings on the far side of a river. The spire of a second church building rises from behind a foreground tree. Faintly signed lower right. Housed in a beaded giltwood frame. Sight: 15 3/8 in H x 19 3/8 in W. Frame: 24 3/4 in H x 29 in W. Biographical Note: Louese Chinworth was born and grew up in Indiana, south of Mentone, and held art and music teaching positions in Indiana, Kentucky, Nebraska, and Arizona. She traveled widely, creating paintings in numerous locations, and was an award-winning exhibitor at the Hoosier Salon and with the Ft. Wayne Artist’s Guild. In 1953, Louese and her husband Bill established the Warsaw Community High School Chinworth Award, which to this day recognizes an outstanding senior at Warsaw Community High School in Warsaw, IN.
