European School, late 19th-early 20th century, oil on canvas painting depicting Cupid with his harp as he discovers Psyche asleep with the amphora filled with beauty ointment by her side, a scene from The Metamorphoses of Apuleius or The Golden Ass. Housed in a carved and pierced gilt frame. Sight: 34 1/8″ H x 27 3/4″ W. Framed: 40 1/4″ H x 33 7/8″ W.
PROVENANCE: Private Middle Tennessee Estate.
CONDITION: Small missing paint flake upper left corner, otherwise overall good condition.
