G.H. Lonsdale (British, fl. late 19th-early 20th c.) oil on canvas oval painting depicting three cows resting and grazing beside a river. Double-signed lower right, “G.H. Lonsdale” and dated 1910. Housed in a giltwood frame, likely original, with rust colored velvet mat having an oval opening. Painting: 20 in. H x 24 in. W. Framed: 25 1/2 in. H x 29 1/2 in. W.
PROVENANCE: Private Brentwood, TN collection.
CONDITION: Light grime and craquelure throughout; scattered inclusions; some scattered spots of blanching to right side of painting. Some retouch to scattered areas including left center, between two cows, visible under UV light. Frame regilt with some small losses, notably to upper right corner.
