Austrian school oil on canvas royal portrait of Maria Theresa, the Hapsburg Queen of Austria from 1740-1780. Subject is attired in an ornate blue gown with detailed lace decoration and a green fur cloak, holding a scepter on a pillow with crowned jewels and surrounded by red drapery, architectural forms and carved gilt furniture. Housed in a giltwood frame with acanthus leaf carving and fluted molding. Sight: 36" H X 31 1/2" W. Framed: 43 1/2" H x 39 1/2" W. European, late 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Deaccessioned by the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts Foundation to benefit the acquisitions fund.
CONDITION: Small areas of in-painting in upper right hand corner, visible under black light inspection. Largest area approximately 2.5" Some fleabite losses. Minor abrasions and significant losses to acanthus leaf carving on frame.
