Earnest de Nagy (Hungary/Maine/New York, 1882-1952) oil on canvas impressionistic maritime painting titled "Rockport Harbor" depicting several sailboats moored at the Maine Harbor with sailors preparing the boats in the morning or unloading them at the end of the day. Signed "Earnest de Nagy" lower left. Label en verso for The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts One Hundred and Sixteenth Annual Exhibition in 1921, in which the work was featured, as well as a previous auction label for Young Fine Arts, North Berwick, ME with artist name and title of work. Housed in a carved and painted wood frame. Sight: 24 7/8" H x 29 1/4" W. Framed: 31 3/4" H x 36 3/8" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carl Klein, Brentwood, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Painting with one small hole, approximately 1/4" on central left-hand side. Some craquelure and abrasion on central right-hand side, and one area of loss, approximately 1/8". Wear and several losses to frame.
