1st item: Edward Garraway (United Kingdom, active 19th Century) oil on canvas equestrian painting titled "Polly" depicting a brown mare in a stable setting. Signed and dated "E Garraway 1890" lower right, and titled lower center. Label en verso of stretcher for Michael Deasy Antiques, Brighton, England. Housed in a molded giltwood frame. Sight: 9 7/8" H x 11 3/4" W. Framed: 11 3/4" H x 13 3/4" W. 2nd item: Scottish School, 19th century watercolor landscape on paper painting depicting a figure riding a horse toward a mountain, beneath a stormy sky. Signed with monogram, "JCB," lower right. Old Edinburgh label and Traquair House Antiques label en verso, plus framer's label. Housed under glass in a carved gilt wood frame with a black trim, an off white linen liner, and a wooden fillet. Sight: 3 1/4" H x 4 3/4" W. Framed: 13" H x 14 1/2" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Raymond White, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Canvas with craquelure, buckling. 2 punctures, largest 5/8", to canvas. Four areas of repair, largest 3 1/2" x 2 1/4", visible en verso of canvas with corresponding areas of inpainting. Stretcher is loose in frame. 2nd item: Overall very good condition. Frame with minor abrasions. Not examined out of frame.
