Twenty-two (22) coin silver spoons and twelve (12) early sterling spoons marked for Bowling Green, Kentucky silversmiths and retailers James McClure, working 1840s to 1881; Peter Fuselli, working late 1850s-1887; Isaac McGoodwin, working c. 1870; and Philip Valenti, working circa 1855-1879, thirty-four (34) pieces total. These silversmiths worked in various partnerships with each other and occasionally alone, as indicated by the marks seen in this lot. 1st – 22nd items: Twenty-two (22) coin silver spoons, including 1 tablespoon marked J. MCLURE in rectangle (rare mark); 1 tablespoon with incuse mark MCCLURE & VALENTI; 3 dessert spoons marked P. FUSELLI in rectangle; 2 dessert spoons and 1 tablespoon marked FUSELLI & MCGOODWIN incuse; and 5 dessert spoons and 10 teaspoons marked MCCLURE & FUSELLI incuse. 23rd – 34th items: Twelve (12) sterling spoons, including 6 sterling tablespoons and 6 teaspoons marked 925/100 with STERLING and P. FUSELLI in rectangles. Most items monogrammed. All items ranging in size from 5 3/8" L to 8 3/8" L. Total weight coin silver: 17.55 troy ounces. Total weight sterling silver: 12.45 troy ounces.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Cora Jane Spiller, Bowling Green, Kentucky.
CONDITION: 2 sterling Fuselli tablespoons have tears to bowls. 2 Mcclure & Fuselli teaspoons have tears to bowls. McClure spoon is in excellent condition and monogrammed SC. Other items with scattered dents, a couple with light bending, overall good condition. Most pieces monogrammed.
