Pair of two (2) Art Moderne painted and padded applique silk satin framed panels, attributed to William Edgar Fager (American/Chicago, 1897-1973), each depicting a vase of flowers, atop a woven background. Possible faint signature in red lower right of one panel. W.E. Fager Studio Label en verso. Housed in wilt wood frames. 22 1/8" H x 22 1/4" W. Circa 1940. Note: Fager was an artist and interior designer who did a significant amount of custom work for celebrity clients, including providing furniture for the Doris Day and Rock Hudson movie "Pillow Talk". He was known for his Art Deco and Art Moderne decorative art creations. In the case of these panels and other similar examples bearing Fager's label, he appears to have imported or borrowed the Chinese Imperial "Duiling" textile art of making painted and appliqued padded silk pictures.
PROVENANCE: A Nashville, Tennessee Estate.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition with scattered tiny spots of discoloration to some areas.
