American William and Mary to Queen Anne transitional side chair, possibly cherry or maple, with rush seat. Serpentine crest with pierced urn carved splat. Front stretcher with bulbous double turning. Front legs with round and square turnings. 39" H x 18 7/8" W x 14 3/4" D. Early 18th century.
PROVENANCE: Deaccessioned by the Vanderbilt University Museum of Art to benefit the acquisitions fund.
CONDITION: Rear stretcher appears to be an old replacement. Finish with wear and some losses to the front of the rush seat.
