Item 1: Federal one-drawer stand, cherry with poplar secondary wood. Top with line inlaid front and side edges over a single dovetailed drawer outlined with string inlay having incurved corners, brass pull. Top of front stiles with rectangular inlay and incurved corners transitioning to tapering legs. The front of two legs with line inlay following the taper of each leg. Each leg with inlaid cuff lines at each foot. 29 3/4" H x 24 3/4" W x 17 1/4" D. Possibly Kentucky or Tennessee, circa 1820. Item 2: American Federal cherry inlaid candle stand, square fixed top having serpentine edges and circular inlay enclosing a round patera, with inlaid diamonds at each corner, over a turned baluster form pedestal, supported on three cabriole legs ending in snake feet. 27"H x 17" x 16 1/2"D.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Sally Flowers Moody, Kentucky.
CONDITION: Item 1: Refinished. The top has a replaced board at the back edge, 6 3/4" width. A couple of rectangular patches to the back center of the original top board. Contemporary reinforcing wooden brace to underside of top. Some contemporary screws securing underside of top. Item 2: Old replaced cabriole leg with an old repair to the side of the circular base. Some staining and fading to top and lifting to patera.
