Lot 901: 2 Antique Tekke Turkmen Torba Rugs

Two antique Tekke Turkmen rugs, including one with a dark red field with six rows of six guls and a wide lower stylized border, and one with a dark red field with four rows of three guls. 5 ft. 1 in. x 4 ft. 3 in. and  4 ft. x 1 ft. 6 in. Both circa 1870. 

PROVENANCE: Private Des Moines, Iowa collection.

CONDITION: 1st rug: One area of repair upper right, one puncture and small stain upper left margin, losses to the border. 2nd rug: Areas of light pile wear and losses to the border with reinforced stitching to the border.
