Pair of George II Rococo sterling silver candlesticks on hexagonal bases with shell corners, fixed nozzles, each having six shell form corners, over shafts with round flared fluted knops, fluted baluster, and cylindrical knop below. Bases with marks for William Gould, London, 1750; both nozzles marked with lion passant, one nozzle also marked WG. 8 3/4" H. 36.355 total troy ounces. Provenance: Private Lookout Mountain, TN collection. CONDITION: 1/2" puncture to base of one candlestick at lower edge of lion passant mark, tip of one candle cup on same candlestick slightly bent downward, otherwise very good condition.
