Oil on canvas still life signed F. A. Schlegel (possibly Friedrich August Schlegel, Germany, 1828 – 1895). Titled "Momento Mori", collection of death images on oriental rug draped on sarcophagus. signed lower right, "F. Schlegel1879". Period giltwood and composition frame, likely original. Very good condition with some craquelure and creases. 14" H x 12 3/4" W sight, 21" H x 20" W framed. Provenance: Loudon County, TN estate.
