Bisque socket head doll, head marked S.H. 1039 DEP 6 (Simon & Halbig) along with illegible red printed stamp, with brown stationary eyes and eyelashes, slightly open mouth, blonde wig. Composition body with jointed arms and straight "walking" legs", holes in chest to emit sound from voice box. Likely original cotton dress with lace trim, stockings and red leather shoes. 21"H. Germany, circa 1910. Provenance: Estate of Frances R. Van Winkle, Knoxville, TN, daughter of Elsie Schmidt Jachowski, collector and past president of Dollogy Club of Washington, DC. Condition: Voice and walking functions not tested or guaranteed. Lacking key. Bead necklace is not original. Wear to wig and eyelashes, dress is discolored and fragile with several small holes, torn shoes.
