English Regency period canterbury, or magazine / music rack, mahogany with oak secondary. Squared stile supports, openwork slats with concave tops, above a dovetailed drawer with cockbeaded edges and round brass pulls, all on tapering ring-turned Sheraton feet fitted with brass castors. 23 1/2" H x 18" W x 15" D. Circa 1810. Note: Originally purchased at Casey & Casey Inc., New Orleans, La.; retains the original sales tag and clipping of its feature in a furniture catalog.
PROVENANCE: The Tina McWhorter Trust; from the collection of John and Tina McWhorter, Memphis, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Some repairs to joints along the upper supports and slats. Drawer slightly sticks. Over general expected wear.
