Philip Perkins (Tennessee, 1907-1970) oil on canvas laid on board abstract painting titled "Arches" depicting geometric shapes rendered in shades of blue, green, pink, off white, brown, and black. Unsigned. Pencil inscription with title, artist information, and notation indicating that this painting was a study for a larger painting, en verso of board. Includes a catalog pamphlet for a Philip Perkins exhibition held at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, February 10-March 4. Housed in a wooden frame. Sight: 12" H x 10 1/8" W. Framed: 13 3/8" H x 10 1/4" W.
CONDITION: Scattered areas of paint loss, largest 1 1/8", to edges and surface of canvas. 1" "v" shaped tear to lower left. Frame with minor abrasions. Exhibition catalog with old scotch tape, minor abrasions, toning, handwritten ink inscription, chipping to edge of sheet.
