Chinese Famille Rose porcelain ginger jar, white-ground decorated in polychrome enamel with relief molded figural vignettes depicting eight immortals around the body. The rim features relief-molded foliate and ruyi-head motifs, with relief-molded mask decoration encircling the base. The domed lid features Shou Lao, god of longevity, riding a crane through the clouds. Base marked “CHINA”. Fitted with a hardwood stand. 9 3/4 in. H x 8 1/2 in. W. Late 19th/Early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Knoxville Collection.
CONDITION: Lid with a couple of shallow chips and fleabites to the lower edge, otherwise overall good condition.
