Assembled grouping of five (5) Japanese porcelain items. 1st – 4th items: Four (4) porcelain bowls including one (1) Satsuma or Kutani punch bowl or large basin with samurai within a coastal landscape to well, scrolling design to rim, and landscape with Mt. Fuji to the underside, signed on base; one (1) Satsuma bowl with a vignette depicting a of pair of birds perched upon flowering branches, scrolling and foliate designs to the inner and outer rim, and foliate forms to the underside, signed to base; and two (2) petal form bowls having landscape decoration including a pair of cranes and swirling form, lamb's tongue rim, and blue and white foliate forms to underside. Ranging in size from 1 3/4" H x 6 1/4" dia. to 4 5/8" H x 14 1/4" dia. All late 19th/early 20th century. 5th item: Large Japanese Imari porcelain charger having alternating vignettes depicting figures in a landscape setting, flowering pots, butterfly and birds, and a large phoenix with outstretched wings; the underside with cobalt concentric blue circles and stylized foliate decoration. 18" dia. Late 19th/Early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Gerry Sadow, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st – 4th items: Punch bowl with minute flaw in the making measuring 2 3/4" L. Smaller Satsuma bowl with previously repaired break, measuring 2 3/4" x 5 1/4", and tight hairline measuring 3 3/8" L. One petal form bowl with chip to rim measuring 1/4". 5th item: Overall very good condition.
