Nine (9) Knoxville, Tennessee coin silver spoons, including seven (7) tablespoons and two (2) small teaspoons with oval tipt handles, marked S. Bell in a rectangle on reverse for Samuel Bell (1797-1881), working Knoxville, TN, 1819-1852 and later, Texas. According to “Tennessee Silversmiths” by Dr. Benjamin H. Caldwell, Jr., these marks are among those used by Bell during the time he worked in Knoxville. Bell was a silversmith, jeweler, and watchmaker, and he also served two terms as Knoxville’s mayor before migrating to Texas. 9 in. L and 5 1/4 in. L. 11.23 total troy ounces.

CONDITION:
All spoons with pitting to the bowls and with a script monogram. The smaller spoons with additional wear to the bowl tip.
