Two (2) Folk Art inlaid boxes, including one (1) sailor-made ditty box with mother of pearl vine and rosette inlays and mixed wood star and diamond inlays, opens to compartmentalized interior with removable shallow tray (5 3/8" H x 14 5/8" W x 8" D); and one (1) parquetry box with mixed wood star inlays, opens to fabric lined interior and inscription LOU. N. to lid (4 3/4" H x 8 3/4" W x 6 1/2" D). English or American, 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Illinois Collection.
CONDITION: Both with minute scattered age splits. Parquetry box with scattered minor surface wear and fraying to fabric lining.
