Late Classical chest of drawers, possibly Texas. Plain cherry top over a pine or hickory body with fluted molded frieze, two short drawers and three long drawers, all constructed with wedged dovetails, and having cherry veneered fronts with horizontal oblong line inlay, terminating in darts, around the wooden knobs. Pine fluted pilasters with repeating vertical ogee curves and ogee feet; serpentine skirt and plain sides. No locks. 50"H x 48"W x 20 1/2"D. Provenance: the estate of Capt. L. Bush Cole, Nashville, Tennessee (formerly of Texas). CONDITION: Top is a 20th century replacement. Drawer fronts have extensive crazing. The interior side of the right front foot has been replaced. Drawer runners possibly replaced. Scattered abrasions and small stains.
