W. 2nd item: Utagawa Hiroshige (Japan, 1797-1858) figural woodblock print, “Namazu: Shinra Saburo (Minamoto no Yoshimitsu),” section of harimaze sheet three from Gojusan tsugi harimaze (Cutouts of the Fifty-Three Stations), 1852. The Heian-era Samurai lord Monamoto no Yoshimitsu AKA Shinra Saburo sits on a mat and plays a sho, or reed pipe. Unframed. Sheet: 6 1/4 in. H x 6 7/16 in. W.

Item 1 affixed to mat with archival tape applied en verso. With even toning and center fold line, as issued. Staining to mat. 2nd item hinged to tissue paper cover with tape applied along upper edge en verso. With fading to colors and even toning plus pencil inscriptions en verso. Two negligible insect holes plus negligible losses along edges, especially upper left.
