Charles Kermit "Buck" Ewing (Tennessee, 1910-1976) oil on board painting "Low Tide" depicting a coastal scene with a shoreline foreground and a rocky peninsula jutting out from the right side. Signed and dated "Ewing '68" lower right. Additionally signed, dated, and titled en verso. Housed in a weathered wood frame with linen liner. Sight: 11" H x 15 1/2" W. Framed: 17 3/4" H x 22 1/2" W. Biography: "Charles Ewing was a Pennsylvania-born painter, teacher, and lithographer. He studied at Carnegie Mellon University, Harvard, and the University of Iowa with Jean Charlot. He was a member of art associations in Pittsburgh, Atlanta and New Rochelle, and in 1938, exhibited at the National Academy of Design. He served as art consultant for the Tennessee Valley Authority and, from 1948 until his retirement, was head of the art department at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville".
