Set of four (4) 18th-century hand-colored bird engravings by George L. Comte de Buffon (France, 1707 – 1788). Birds depicted include, No. 56 The White Turtle, No. 181 The Egret, No. 167 The Toucan, and No. 147 The Artificial Parrot. All matted and and housed in ebonized and parcel gilt frames. Sight: 6 1/4" H x 4 1/4" W. Framed: 14 1/2" H x 12 1/2" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Pia Stratton, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: All engravings in overall good condition. The Parrot engraving with minor foxing to upper left quadrant.
