1st item: J. Edgar Forkner (American, 1867-1945) watercolor harbor scene depicting a ship docked beside a wooden pier with other boats in the background. Signed lower right, "Edgar Forkner." Housed under glass in a giltwood frame. Conservation label, en verso. Sight: 15 1/2" H x 11 1/2" W. Framed: 22 5/8" H x 18 5/8" W. Note: Exhibited, the West Tennessee Regional Arts Center, Humboldt, Tennessee. Acquired from the May 2006 auction of the Dr. Benjamin H. and Gertrude Caldwell collection, lot 289. 2nd item: Christopher Aristide Desbouillons Murphy (American/Georgia, 1902-1973) graphite on paper drawing depicting a steamboat moored to a dock. Dated "December, 1923" lower right. Unsigned. Ink inscription reading "By Christopher Murphy, Jr./purchased from his sister in Savannah, Ga/by Raymond White" en verso. Housed and double matted under glass in a wooden frame with gilt trim. Sight: 10" H x 7 3/4" W. Framed: 21" H x 18 1/4" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Raymond White, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall good condition with area of dampstaining lower left edge measuring 5 7/8" H x 1" W. Conservation label indicates the painting was cleaned, deacidified, and backed with acid free materials in 1986. Frame with wear and some losses to gilt, largest measuring approximately 10" L. 2nd item: Overall good condition with toning, scattered stains, largest 1/8", to sheet. Not examined outside of frame. Frame with minor abrasions.
