Dixie Hampson Durham (Virginia/Arkansas, 1913-2010) oil on canvas painting depicting a young African American child attired in a light pink dress swinging on a tire. The painting is rendered with loose brushstrokes conveying the movement of the girl's dress and her feet swinging forward out of the frame. Signed "Dixie Durham 1975" lower left. Housed in a simple wood frame. Sight: 18 3/4" H x 23 1/2" W. Framed: 23 3/4" H x 27 7/8" W.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Dr. Thomas Bechtel, Memphis, TN.
