Diminutive Southern Sheraton cherry sugar chest, poplar secondary. Molded top above a dovetailed case with inlaid escutcheon, upper well interior divided into two equal compartments, medial half-round molding, lower dovetailed drawer having three equally divided interior compartments with oval brass pulls. Case resting on ring turned legs. 26 1/8 in. H x 19 in. W x 15 1/2 in. D. Possibly Southern Middle Tennessee, 2nd quarter of the 19th century.
CONDITION: Older refinished surface. Top with newer hinges and a replaced strip where hinges previously broke out. Older small, square patch to center of lower drawer, tips of feet appear to have been reduced in height. Brasses are older and are possibly original.
