Hester Bateman English 18th century sterling silver teapot of ovoid form, rim and body with bright-cut diamond bands to top and base, central oval cartouche with armorial engraving, beaded base edge, ball feet, scrolled wooden handle, and silver finial. Base with maker's mark "HB", London hallmarks, and date letter for 1781. 5 1/2" H x 9 1/2" W. 14.64 troy ounces.
PROVENANCE: Private Chattanooga, TN collection.
CONDITION: Old repaired break to base of handle, old repair to end of spout. Wear to engraved decoration.
